Our law firm actively participated in the preparation, scheduling and organization of the joint Turkish-Czech Arbitration and Business Law Conference associated with the Investment and Business Forum in Istanbul on 7 and 8 March 2024. Members of our law firm also provided lectures and speeches at this event.
On 7 and 8 March 2024, a joint Turkish-Czech Arbitration and Business Law Conference associated with the Investment and Business Forum was held in Istanbul / Turkey. The main organizers were ITOTAM – Istanbul Chamber of Commerce Arbitration And Mediation Center and PRIAC – International Arbitration Court in Prague at the Czech Commodity Exchange Kladno. Professor Alexander J. Bělohlávek, the Managing partner of our law firm, moderated the Section II – Arbitration and Dispute Resolution Laws and Rules in the Czech Republic and a panel discussion within the Section VI – Investment Legal Background and Investment Protection in the Czech Republic. Professor Bělohlávek also introduced a lecture on “The Influence of International Treaties and International Standards to the Enforcement of Law and to Arbitration in the Czech Republic”. Dr. iur. Jan Šamlot introduced a lecture on the “Enforcement of Foreign Judgments (Especially Foreign Court Decisions) vs. Enforcement of Arbitral Awards, Practice and Importance of Public Policy (Ordre Public).” On behalf of our law firm, Mrs. Lenka Němečková also participated in this prestigious event.
This important and unique Czech-Turkish event was also actively supported by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ankara, the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Istanbul, the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Prague, the Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, the „CzechTrade” Agency, the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic, the Association of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises of the Czech Republic and other institutions. Some of their representatives also participated as speakers.
